Sleeping Man Shot In Hand, Lancaster Police Say

A stray bullet from a shots fired incident went through a man's home and into his hand while he was sleeping early Saturday morning, Oct. 12, Lancaster City police announced later that day.

Officers were called to the reported shooting in the 300 block of S. Anne Street around 2:30 a.m. 

They arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his hand, according to the release.

He told the police "he was in his bedroom asleep when a bullet traveled through his window and struck him in the hand," police wrote.

Multiple shell casings and bullet fragments were collected by officers nearby the area of the reported shooting. 

"Damage to several homes on the block, which is believed to have been caused by the gunfire," the police noted in the release. 

The other neighbors in the block were notified about the shooting and no other injuries were reported, according to the police.

"The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries," police said. 

The investigation was active at the time of publishing.
